Scenes from my town....

This is why I love living here....

You see, Texas has my heart, my whole heart. I can't imagine living anywhere else, nor would I want to.

Happy Monday.

The Past Week

This past week was one I will surely not forget. My Mama came out to Texas for a few days to help me get ready for the little one. My whole family will be making the trek once our little guy is born, so this was a bonus visit! We were able to get so much accomplished for his room....clothes are all washed, crib is put together, diapers and wipes are accessible, and the house is clean. And I mean clean.

You could eat off my floors.

Best of all, my mom was able to feel her grandson move. She even got to feel his hiccups....

All of his clothes are ready for our little cowboy. I can't wait to dress him in all of them!

His nursery is farm animals in neutral tones with white furniture. I wanted to keep it fun and light-hearted without feeling overwhelmed by patterns...I know, I know, but I'm a simple girl.

Isn't the mobile just the sweetest! Oh pregnancy hormones!

I feel undeniably blessed that I was able to share coffee (decaf for me!) every morning for a few days with my Mama, and that she took time from her busy day to day, to come to my teeny-tiny town and lend a hand. I know country life is a bit of an adjustment and she was a trooper, especially when we went 'shopping' and that entitled the WalMart in town!

I can't believe tomorrow marks 36 weeks!

Life never ceases to be amazing!

34 Week Photo

At the appointment this week, everything checked out just as it should with the little man and I. I keep hoping and praying that my visits will remain wonderfully boring and that we all arrive at the end, healthy and happy.

I feel as though things are finally coming together :) We will be picking up the crib and mattress tomorrow, and his closet is full of perfectly tiny clothes. I feel completely blessed by the outpouring of love we have seen from friends and family. Just yesterday, we received a box of gently worn baby clothing from a friend, and I was on the brink of tears. To feel the love people have for our little man is to experience a love I never thought possible. I told my husband today that I want to begin some sort of nonprofit for new families who need help acquiring the essentials for little ones--things like clothing, blankets, bedding, etc.

Sort of like a 'pay it forward' for all those who have given so much to us. Just one of the many things my heart has been praying fervently about lately.

And now for the picture.....drum roll please....

May you all have a wonderful weekend....

No Resolutions

I never make New Years Resolutions....I think if I want to be healthier, become a better wife, a more understanding and compassionate person, then I should make the conscientious effort to do so in that moment. I am well aware that I am flawed and could always use 'readjusting', I will never claim to be perfect.

In fact, the only words I will ever utter with complete certainty, is how much I love him and he loves me.

And together, we go through life hand in hand, our souls forever linked by a love that surpasses all understanding. It's in the strength of his hands that rests softly on my back, or the quiet nighttime whispers of "I love you" exchanged just before slumber. It's the kind of love that has you begging for forgiveness the second a harsh word is spoken and vowing from that moment forward to be kind and joyful, lighthearted and warm.

So while I am may not pay much notice to resolutions, I do believe in striving for more, in pushing oneself to be the best possible version you can be.

After all, they deserve that much....

The 101st Post

I thought it was fitting that my first post of the new year was, in fact, the 101st post!

I am sure it is pretty obvious as to what I am looking forward to this year....our little man should be joining us in about 7 weeks! Eeep!

And I will be back later on this week with another update since we meet with the midwife on Friday....but I just had to thank you all for your kindness and friendship this past year. I has been an unbelievable year and I am looking forward to the next.
